A family owned and run business
Anglesea Fruitz is owned and run by Geelong father and son Garry and Dave Foreman. The pair both knows their way around shops with Garry working for many years as a sales representative for snack food companies and Dave in a similar role in gourmet foods. While neither professes to be outstanding cooks, they know the difference between a great product and a not so great product and are passionate about providing the best customer service they can. “We have developed great relationships with our customers, whether they are locals or the many visitors we have that return to the shop time and time again,” Dave said. “We know our customers want quality, they want local produce wherever possible and they want to come into our store and discover things they perhaps can’t find anywhere else. Providing that experience for them is really important to us.” Dave and Garry brought Anglesea Fruitz in May of 2010 and as many locals will tell you, it went from having a limited range, to bursting with a wide variety of different products. Anglesea Fruitz also prides itself on its extended trading hours, ensuring that if you’ve run out of milk, or just want to pop down and buy and ice-cream or some confectionery after dinner, Anglesea Fruitz is the place to go. It’s open every day of the year, except Christmas Day from 9am to 8pm Sunday to Thursday and 9am till late on Friday and Saturdays. “We have many people come into the shop looking for unusual products that they may have seen at a market or around the place. We enjoy a challenge and are quite often able to source things they are looking for,” Garry said. “We also have many people who are looking for top-quality gluten free products that don’t taste like cardboard. We really make an effort to source great tasting products which aren’t only gluten free, but dairy free, and that are made from organic and free range ingredients.” Dave and Garry agree that a lot of blood, sweat and tears had gone into the shop since taking it over, but they have enjoyed every moment of it. “Owning a business in a small tourist town isn’t always going to be easy, but it’s the wonderful people we meet and the really encouraging feedback we receive which makes it really rewarding,” Dave said.
